Barret Dokis has 15 years of experience working as a First Nations technician for various Indigenous representative organizations in Ontario and over five years in the business development and commercial finance fields. He currently works as a Senior Policy Analyst at Robinson Huron Waawiindamaagewin (RHW), which is a treaty-level organization that has been mandated to establish a sovereign Robinson Huron Treaty organization and identify key principles for Treaty Reconciliation & Renewal. Prior to joining RHW, Barret worked at the Chiefs of Ontario for five years where he held various roles, including Director of Policy and Communications and a secondment to the Ontario government to help oversee its engagement processes during a renewal of its consultation policies. Barret also spent seven years working with the Anishinabek Nation and was responsible for the implementation of its economic development strategy, the establishment of the Chiefs Council on the Economy, and was the technical lead for the Anishinabek Nation during the First Nations Hydro One Share Purchase Agreement and the establishment of the Ontario First Nations Sovereign Wealth Fund. Barret is passionate about restoring sovereignty to First Nations and creating hope for future generations. He currently resides in N’Swakamok (Sudbury) with his partner Pamela and their dog Cooper. He is a member of Wahnapitae First Nation, where he previously served as a councillor, and has ancestral relations to Dokis First Nation, Nipissing First Nation, and Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory.
