Robin Howse

Impact Assessment Analyst

Robin is a member of the Miawpukek Mi’kmaq Nation. Her father is Mi’kmaw and her mother is of French ancestry. Robin has also been adopted into nehiyaw (Cree) families. She is a mother of two nehiyaw children. She was born in nistowayâhk (Fort McMurray) and grew up in Treaty 8 & Treaty 6 territory. She currently resides in ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ (Amiskwacîwâskahikan) Treaty 6 Territory, the Territory of the Papaschase Cree, and the Homeland of the Métis Nation.

Robin holds a Master of Science in Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology, where she focused on Risk and Community Resilience through her Master’s work titled “Pekiwe: Coming Home through Land and Cultural Reclamation”. She also holds two bachelor’s degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Native Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Conservation Sciences. And she obtained two certificates at the University of Alberta, a Certificate in Aboriginal Governance as well as a Certificate in Sustainability. Robin has experience in curriculum development and teaching in a post secondary institution. She also has experience co-leading and co-facilitating language revitalization projects and land-based education camps. She is now working with the Firelight Group as an Impact Assessment Analyst, specifically supporting the First Nations Major Projects Coalition projects.
